Run club

We’re all aware of the health benefits of running – better cardio health, endorphin highs, improved mental health, weight management and boosted immune system to name but a few but did you know that you get even more of an upside running with others?

In addition to the physical fitness and mental health boost of running by yourself, doing so with someone else or in a group can provide:

  • Motivation & accountability to stick to your running routine
  • Improved performance by pushing yourself faster or further than you would on your own
  • Learning by sharing training tips or gear recommendations
  • Emotional support through social interaction
  • FUN!
     

You might also not know about the T+O+M and FOTOM (Friends of T+O+M) lunchtime running club. Organised by Martin Connell from the Technology team, a group heads out for a refreshing 5km run around Mrs Macquarie’s chair every Wednesday at noon. There’s a “No runner left behind” policy with a focus on getting the endorphins flowing and building camaraderie.
