Head of Fund Accounting

The Head of Fund Accounting usually reports into a Chief Operation Officer (COO) and is responsible for the leadership of a fund accounting team and overall provision and execution of fund accounting services including the preparation of Statutory accounts, financial and APRA reporting and tax accounting for clients, for example superannuations funds.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight fund accounting services for accuracy, completeness, and compliance of regulations, policies and standards.
  • Manage the internal and external risk & control environment.
  • Design and implement scalable, and strategic improvements to the fund accounting services.
  • Identify people, process, and quality improvements to lower the cost to serve.
  • Work with each client to ensure that contracted deliverables and related services are delivered within service level standards.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure Fund accounting related hand offs are efficient and effective.
  • Manage external engagements and service interactions with service providers including auditors.
  • Participate as part of the COO’s leadership team

 

Typical requirements:

  • 10 years’ experience leading teams in a fund administration or a similar industry
  • Formal qualifications in accounting (CPA, CA etc)
  • Practical experience in accounting based software tools
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements related to fund accounting/reporting within a superannuation environment.
  • Strong leadership skills
