Commercial Finance Manager

Commercial Finance Managers typically manage the financial operations and strategies of commerical organisations. They are responsible for analysing financial data, developing financial plans, and providing strategic recommendations to support business growth and profitability. This position can report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, identify trends, and provide insightful recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and dashboards to measure business performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as sales, marketing, and operations, to align financial objectives with business goals.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes, including pricing strategies, investment opportunities, and cost optimization.
  • Manage the evaluation and execution of new business initiatives, including financial due diligence and risk assessmen
  • Provide strategic financial guidance and insights to support business development activities and client negotiations.
  • Monitor market trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes to anticipate potential financial impacts on the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting principles, and reporting standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, promoting their development and fostering a high-performance culture.

 

Typical requirements:

  • Qualified CA, CPA or CFA
  • Proven experience in commercial finance, financial management, or a similar role
  • Strong financial analysis and modelling skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights effectively.
  • Solid understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
  • Proficiency in business performance software (e.g., TM1, Hyperion, Anaplan) and advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with local financial regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements.
